Dorrance «Dory» Earnest Funk (Hammond, Indiana, 3 de febrero de 1941-Ocala, Florida, 4 de agosto de 2026)[3]fue un luchador profesional y entrenador de lucha libre estadounidense. Él es el hijo de Dory Funk y hermano de Terry Funk.
Vida personal y fallecimiento
[editar | editar código]Funk se casó con su primera esposa, Jimmie, el 8 de junio de 1960.[4] Juntos tuvieron tres hijos: Dory III, Adam Dirk y Penny. También tienen cinco nietos.[5] Posteriormente se separaron y se divorciaron oficialmente el 6 de julio de 1983. Dory III se dedicó a la medicina y ejerce en Colorado. El nieto de Funk, Dory IV, se entrenó como luchador bajo su tutela. En 1980, Funk conoció a su segunda esposa, Marti; la pareja se casó en 1989. Tienen dos hijos.[5]
Funk fue entrenador de la Escuela de Lucha Libre Profesional Funking Conservatory en Ocala, Florida, donde impartió el método Dory Funk de lucha libre profesional. Esta escuela contaba con una filial afiliada a la Federación Mundial de Lucha Libre (WWF) llamada Funkin' Dojo. Entre sus alumnos se encontraban Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Christian Cage, Lita, Kurt Angle, Mansoor, Mickie James, Adam Copeland, Ted DiBiase y Test. Su esposa, Marti, dirige BANG TV, canal donde se emiten los combates de Dory.[2]
El 4 de agosto de 2026, Funk falleció en su casa de Ocala, Florida, mientras recibía cuidados paliativos. Tenía ochenta y cinco años.[6][7]
